Repetitive strain injuries

Parkinson’s (as recommended by NICE guidelines)
Actors, Musicians and Dancers: Alexander Technique was originally created to support performers - anyone who uses their body for their work.
What is the Alexander Technique?
Over the course of our lives we learn how to move & interact with our environment, which becomes habitual. However if these movement patterns become overly tense they can have a broader impact our lives and wellbeing.
What happens in an Alexander Technique session?
Alexander Technique can be practiced 1:1 & in group sessions. In sessions we explore your everyday movements in a gentle way, bringing awareness & curiosity to how your body is moving.
We don’t do specific exercises, like you would in Yoga or Pilates, we instead apply the Alexander Technique to your usual movements. Through exploring the foundations of movement we build a stable ground that the complexity of your life can be related to.
Movements we explore include, sitting on a chair, standing, walking and lying on a bed.
AT teachers train for 3 years to use a special form of gentle touch to support you through these movements and bring awareness to different body parts.
Alexander Technique is best understood when experienced, so come for a taster session!
Hello I’m James,
I am a Viola player, and I came to the Alexander Technique during my studies at the Royal College of Music, in search of relief from chronic back pain that I had experienced since my teen years.
The Alexander Technique changed my life, and I use it every day. When I play my Viola, when I’m in the gym, when I’m cooking… It’s a resource I have in my back pocket to help me trust myself, take care of myself and make sense of my experience.
I love sharing this tool, to support you to navigate the world with more ease.
